Angola police have arrested a woman in Luanda accused of setting her three children on fire using hot water because they allegedly ate the food of her husband, the children’s stepfather.
According to Nestor Gubel, a spokesman for the Luanda Provincial Police Department, the victims were three children aged five, ten and 12.
A 47-year-old woman is accused of child abuse, which was reported to the police by the children’s older sister, a Luanda police spokesman added.
Nestor Gubel stressed that the incident took place last Tuesday at 18:00, at the residence, when the accused realized that the children had eaten the chicken that was intended for her husband, the children’s stepfather.
“The irritated defendants used physical force on them and then doused them with hot water, causing burns to the neck, fingers of the left hand and the buttocks of minors,” the police spokesman said.
The accused is in custody and will be presented to the prosecutor’s office for due process.
The police spokesman stressed that this is a matter for public reflection.
“This is a subject for thought, a reprehensible attitude, and it is obvious that she is the alleged perpetrator of this crime, she is accused, but if this is proven, she will feel the heavy hand of the law,” he said.
