The PSD/SDS coalition candidate has kept his promise to resign “if he fails to form a majority” in the Regional Assembly after his MP failed to achieve that goal.
Miguel Albuquerque assured that he is “able to form a government with a parliamentary majority” and that Chega is “excluded from any coalition.”
“Steps have already been taken. In the coming days we will present a government with a stable majority,” he assured.
Four years ago, the Social Democrats lost the majority they had held since 1976 for the first time and formed a coalition government with the SDS-PP. “There were no problems with governance in the coalition,” emphasized Miguel Albuquerque.
“We won in 52 out of 54 wards,” recalls the candidate, whose interpretation of the results is that “the party that lost was the PS,” the party that won. 21.30%, receiving 11 mandates in the regional parliament.
Miguel Albuquerque was grateful for the “vote of confidence” in the PSD/SDS coalition.
