A 32-year-old woman was left in a critical condition after the (rented) TVDE car she was in crashed on the IC19 towards Lisbon-Sintra, near the Queluz Palace turnoff, and was then rammed by a trailer.
The accident happened around 1 a.m. on Saturday.
This was reported by a source in Civil Defense CM that the driver of the TVDE vehicle left the vehicle after the accident to report the accident. That’s when a trailer appeared from behind, the driver of which was unable to prevent the violent collision.
The sole occupant of the rental car, who never exited the vehicle, suffered injuries believed to be very serious. The drivers of the two vehicles were not injured.
Traffic on the IC19 towards Lisbon-Sintra was immediately closed towards Lisbon-Sintra and diverted to alternative routes.
Queluz firefighters and PSP were at the scene. The only injury from the accident was stabilized and transported by Queluz Fire Department ambulance to the San Francisco Xavier Hospital in Lisbon.
The IC19 highway towards Lisbon-Sintra was closed to traffic until around 4am.
