The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has issued an orange hot weather warning for the south coast and mountainous areas of Madeira from 09:00 Wednesday until 18:00 Thursday.
The south coast and mountainous areas are forecast to “continue very high maximum temperatures”, according to IPMA.
On the north coast and Porto Santo, yellow heat warnings are in place from 6.12pm Monday and 6pm Thursday, with “high maximum temperatures remaining”.
An orange warning is issued by the IPMA when there is a moderate to high risk meteorological situation, and a yellow warning is issued when there is a risk for certain activities depending on the meteorological situation.
