The trial of the 11 climate activists who blocked traffic on Tuesday at the Second Circular has been postponed, said the Climáximo movement, which contributed to another blockade of Lisbon this Wednesday.
Noah Zino of the Climáximo movement said it was not known why the trial, which had been scheduled for Wednesday morning at the Justice Campus, was postponed or what the new date would be for the youths to be heard by a judge.
Meanwhile, three other activists of the Climáximo movement were detained this Wednesday by the PSP after blocking traffic on Rua de São Bento in Lisbon.
Noah Zino said the three youths were taken by PSP to Rato Police Station and will be heard before a judge at 2pm this Wednesday.
According to the collective, three young people sat on the ground around 8am this Wednesday on Rua de São Bento, blocking traffic for about 20 minutes, while other activists distributed leaflets reading: “Knowing that you know about the climate crisis. , what are you going to do?”
In a statement, the movement emphasizes that climate activists, having stopped traffic on Tuesday at the Second Circular, moved the protest “closer to the legislature, in Rua de São Bento,” where the Assembly of the Republic is located.
“Governments and companies have declared war on society and the planet. This unilateral declaration leads to attacks: disasters – so-called “natural” – to ensure that those responsible for their deliberate and coordinated crimes are not brought to justice,” says Mariana Rodriguez. , a representative of the team, in a statement.
