The GNR confiscated more than 2,400 counterfeit items of clothing and shoes worth about 124 thousand euros during a fair in the municipality of Vieira do Minho, Braga district, security forces reported this Monday.
“As part of a police operation at the annual fair in this municipality aimed at combating counterfeit products, Guard soldiers inspected several stalls selling 2,412 counterfeit goods of various brands, namely clothing, shoes and fashion accessories, which led to its confiscation,” – explains GNR in its statement.
The security service says 10 defendants, aged between 30 and 56, have been charged with counterfeiting offences.
The facts were brought to the attention of the Vieira do Minho Judicial Court.
The action was carried out on Friday by the territorial command of Braga through the territorial detachment of Póvoa de Lagnoso.
The action was reinforced by the Intervention Unit of Braga and the Financial Action Unit of the GNR Porto.
“The Republican National Guard reiterates that the primary purpose of this type of action is to ensure respect for industrial property rights, essentially aimed at combating counterfeit products, trademark misuse, and the sale of counterfeit products,” the statement also said.
