Rain and wind raised the alarm in 10 districts. Civil Defense tips for dealing with bad weather

The National Emergency Management and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC) on Wednesday issued some advisories to the population due to the worsening weather forecast for this Thursday across the country. Ten areas are on alert, with more incidents likely in the Northern region.

Depression Babet rocked the country on Tuesday, but Storm Aline is expected to bring more unfavorable temperatures and weather challenges on Thursday.

With continued rainfall and strong winds forecast, ANEPC urges caution when driving on the road, paying particular attention to groundwater levels that may develop. Non-essential travel is also discouraged.

Marine activity will be higher, so you should not park near the beaches.

ANEPC asks the public to call 112 if assistance is required at any location, or to alert the municipality if there is no such urgency.

This Tuesday, 2,060 incidents were recorded, in particular due to falling trees and flooding of public roads. Two people were reported homeless in Castro Marim due to roof damage.

Civil Defense raised its alert level to orange and increased the number of operational personnel to respond to potential incidents between Wednesday and Thursday.
