The plane, which took off from Francisco Sa Carneiro airport in Maya on Saturday morning, was forced to return to its original point after colliding with a bird. The plane took off from Porto airport at 8:30 am and headed to Bremen, Germany.
Just as it took off, the plane struck a bird and the pilot, as a precaution, decided to turn back to check for engine problems. The plane had to circle in the air for several minutes to burn off some of the fuel. He landed safely at the airport around 9:40 am.
There were no reports of injuries. Multiple firefighters and PSP resources were deployed to prevent this situation, which was classified as a Level 1 alert, the lowest for this type of situation.
