In 2022, the number of early pensions granted this year increased by 14.2% compared to 2021, to almost 22 thousand, according to the report on the sustainability of the social security system, which accompanies the draft state budget for 2024 presented to parliament.

The increase was mainly due to an increase in the number of pensions assigned after long-term unemployment (more than 12 months of unemployment), which increased in 2022 by almost 45% compared to the previous year, to 10.6 thousand.

Social security spending on pensions last year amounted to 12.2 billion euros, an increase of 4.5% compared to the previous year.
