A Ryanair plane with 189 passengers on board made an emergency landing this Sunday at Faro airport after a technical problem was discovered.
The plane took off from Algarve airport and was heading to Belfast in Northern Ireland.
The plane had to turn back and circle in the air, wasting fuel, in order to land safely.
As it turned out in CM The regional commander of the National Emergency Management and Civil Protection Office, Vitor Vaz Pinto, was alerted on board at 8:14 am. The emergency plan was activated and a red alert was issued at 8:16 a.m. 42 vehicles, one ship and one hundred operational personnel were involved.
The plane landed safely and the alert ended at 9:35 am.
