A search of a nursing home in Porto on Tuesday was carried out on suspicion of abuse, culminating in the closure of a reception centre, the Attorney General’s Office said.
In a note, the Directorate Central for Investigation and Criminal Affairs (DCIAP) said that on Tuesday, searches were carried out at a reception center located in the Porto area, the premises of which “do not comply with the structural conditions established by the legislation applicable to reception centers, namely in terms of accessibility for people with limited mobility and from a food security perspective.”
“The center was closed and elderly users were placed in appropriate institutions,” the same message said.
Also according to DCIAP, this process was initiated by a complaint made by the user’s daughter, and cases of abuse of several users were confirmed by the Department of Public Health, a public health trainee, an environmental health specialist, during a joint inspection with inspectors from the Northern Welfare Inspection Office.
The searches were presided over by a criminal judge in the presence of the prosecutor’s office and with the participation of representatives of the PSP, the Health Authority and the Social Security Institute, DCIAP said, adding that the process was under development. The mystery of justice.
