An investigation by the Portuguese Prosecutor’s Office (MP), which received a complaint from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MNE) on suspicions of corruption, charging “gloves” for issuing visas and receiving “wedges” when making appointments in the national consular team. Searches of diplomatic sites began in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Tuesday.
ABOUT CM You are aware that the Portuguese Consulate has received several complaints from users reporting situations that may constitute crimes. The General Diplomatic and Consular Inspectorate of the MNE has launched an internal investigation. After the evidence was confirmed, a complaint was filed with the deputy. The investigation was entrusted to the Judicial Police (PJ), who collected evidence of corruption, embezzlement and falsification of documents at the Rio de Janeiro Consulate. Thus, PJ inspectors yesterday launched “Operation Agendodromo”, during which 5 warrants were executed in Rio de Janeiro and Saquarema. Since the PD was operating abroad, it turned to the Brazilian Federal Police for support. Evidence has been collected, but no arrests have yet been made.
