Doctors are tightening their relationship with the minister over time

“The doctors’ unions are not disarming and want to continue negotiations with the government and the Minister of Health. The strikes continue this Friday after the Independent Union of Doctors and the National Federation of Doctors demanded the resumption of the negotiation process,” Minister Manuel Pizarro said the government would “examine how far it can go as far as negotiations.”

“We must evaluate the conditions under which each of the government’s political options can be implemented, because if it is true that the government is in power, it is no less true that we are not in normal circumstances,” Manuel Pizarro said on on the sidelines of the opening of the 32nd 1st Congress of the Order of Dentists, held in Matosinhos. Therefore, he emphasized, negotiations with doctors require “very careful study” from the point of view of not only legal registration, but also the political legitimacy of each decision made, he emphasized.

Let us recall that the resignation of Prime Minister António Costa on Tuesday led to the cancellation of the meeting of the Minister of Health with trade unions scheduled for the next day, interrupting a process that had already lasted a year and a half.
