The maternity unit and emergency obstetrics and gynecology service at Penafiel Hospital, which closed on November 1 without a reopening date, will return to service for now on November 13, 14 and 15. The confirmation was made by the Centro Hospitalar do Tâmega e Sousa this Sunday morning.
In a statement, the Hospital Center, which included the Penafiel and Amarante hospitals, said that “taking into account recent events in the country and the assessment that doctors are making regarding the continued unavailability of emergency shifts, all users are advised that the reopening of the maternity hospital and Emergency Obstetrics and Gynecology appointments are now guaranteed on November 13, 14 and 15.”
It will be recalled that at the end of October the Penafiel Hospital announced that these services would close “outside” from November 1st without a date for resumption of work due to the lack of doctors to complete emergency duty and due to the fact that users covered by sick leave the department should seek assistance from the São João Hospital in Porto.
