The President of the PSD this Monday called for the use of republican ethics, asking Mario Centeno to evaluate the guarantees of impartiality and impartiality that underlie his position as Governor of the Bank of Portugal.
“…It is important that everyone can use what the Socialist Party often refers to, namely the republican ethic,” said Luis Montenegro at the end of a meeting of the PSD Standing Political Committee in Loule, Faro district.
The Social Democratic leader insisted on the need to “respect the separation of powers in Portugal” as well as the “independence and exemption of the entities responsible for regulation, such as the Bank of Portugal.”
“In Portugal, it is necessary to avoid situations of abuse of power, even abuse of communication,” Montenegro said, referring to the political events of recent days.
After persistent demands from journalists, the PSD president said that Mario Centeno “will have to make an assessment regarding the guarantees of impartiality and impartiality that underlie” his functions.
Luis Montenegro said that he did not want to “aggravate this situation further,” but assured that he would know what to do if he were in Centeno’s place.
“I know exactly what I would do if I were him, and I think it’s not hard to predict what I would say,” he said.
