According to the resolution published this Friday, the Porto metrobus, which will connect the Casa da Música with Praça do Império and Anémona, will cost 10 million euros more than the originally planned 66 million.
According to the resolution of the Council of Ministers of November 2, published this Friday in the Diário da República (DR), “it is now necessary to update the cost estimates and the Boavista-Imperio BRT line” to 76 million euros.
“The amount (66,000,000.00 euros) for the Boavista-Imperio BRT line was based on estimates prepared in 2020, which were confirmed by studies and current coefficients for this type of work,” states the resolution signed by Prime Minister António Costa . even before his resignation.
According to the government, “after September 2020, there has been a significant increase in the cost of labor, raw materials, construction materials and, equally significant, an increase in the cost of fuel and energy, which directly affects the overall cost of the work estimate.”
We are talking about phenomena arising as a result of “exceptional supply chain situations, the Covid-19 pandemic, the global energy crisis and the consequences of the war in Ukraine.”
Initially, the metrobus project was planned only to Praça do Império, but since the cost of the grant (25 million euros) was lower than 66 million euros, the government decided to extend the service to Praça Cidade do Salvador, known as Anémona. , in Matosinhos.
In addition, “it was determined that the international open tender for the supply and maintenance of BRT vehicles, infrastructure for the production of green hydrogen and electricity from renewable sources ended in the exclusion of all proposals received, meaning that it became necessary to prepare a new competition.”
The base price for the new procedure, launched in July, was 27.48 million euros, but “actual offers were higher than this amount.”
The service vehicles, similar to those used in the regular metro, will be built by a consortium that includes CaetanoBus and DST Solar, under a contract awarded for 29.5 million euros.
The new Metro do Porto line will connect Casa da Música with Praça do Império (in 12 minutes) and Anémona (in 17 minutes) in 2024 with hydrogen buses operating on a dedicated road on Avenida da Boavista and simultaneously with cars on Avenida Marechal. Gomez da Costa.
The investment initially planned for the metrobus, amounting to 66 million euros, is fully financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), an amount excluding VAT, while the remaining 10 million could also be financed by the PRR, the Environment Fund or the Environmental Defense Fund. The state budget.
Work began at the end of January: the first service is planned at the stations Casa da Música, Guerra Junqueiro, Bessa, Pinheiro Manso, Serralves, João de Barros and Império, as well as the section to Matosinhos Antunes Guimarães, Garcia de Orta. will be added. , Nevogilde, Castelo do Queijo and Praça Cidade do Salvador (Anemona).
