Climate activists movement “The End of Fossils” On Tuesday morning, they blocked the entrance to the headquarters of six political parties in Lisbon. Together with them, they submitted proposals to the parties to end the use of fossil fuels by 2030 and transition to 100% renewable and affordable electricity by 2025. The students are determined to ensure that this is the last gas winter in Portugal.
“These are our conditions, this is the offer we came to make. If any party wants to form a government, they must respect them because no government can be legitimate if it continues to ignore the greatest crisis humanity has ever faced. I’m here. because they have to speak out. Do you want to put an end to this system that condemns us, or continue to be part of it?” said Leonor Chico, who prevented the creation of the Bloc de Esquerda headquarters, quoted in a statement sent to the press.
Vicente, who blocked the entrance to the PSD headquarters, believes that “the institutions cannot continue to ignore the climate crisis.”
The students did not blockade Chegi’s headquarters because, they said, the party was doing “exactly what was expected of it: protecting the fossil system, taking to the streets and barking at those who oppose it. Fascism is a symptom of this system, and it is at its service,” said Ideal, who left dog toys at the entrance to the building.
On November 24, activists will occupy the building of the Ministry of Environment.
