An Alfa Pendular train caught a man on the Northern line this Thursday at the automatic level crossing in Ribeira de Santarem, which led to a blockage of traffic between the stations of Santana-Cartajo and Santarem, a source told Infraestruturas de Portugal.
According to an official source from the Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP), which manages the national railway network, this Thursday afternoon “an Alfa Pendular train caught a man who was crossing the automatic level crossing” at kilometer 73.908 “in perfect working order, at the entrance to the station Santarem towards Lisbon-Porto.”
“Train service on both routes between Santana-Cartajo and Santarem stations remains suspended,” the same IP source added.
The National Emergency Management and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC) recorded a “railway collision” at 17:48 at a “railroad crossing”. [da] Ribeira de Santarem”, mobilizing 12 operational personnel and five vehicles to the site.
The Alfa Pendular train from CP – Comboios de Portugal continued its journey towards Porto.
The IP source reported at 19:30 that the circulation should be restored in the near future.
