A motorcyclist died this morning in a collision with a car in the municipality of Marinha Grande, Leiria district, a civil protection source told Lusa.
The accident alert was issued at 2:04 a.m. and access to Highway 8 was restricted, a source from Leiria’s subregional command for emergencies and civil protection said.
The collision, which killed a 24-year-old man, took place on Estrada dos Guilhermes, close to the A8 motorway exit.
At the scene were the Marinha Grande volunteer firefighters, ambulance and resuscitation, the National Institute for National Emergency, Autoestradas do Atlântico, GNR and PSP, a total of 19 first responders and ten vehicles.
INEM Psychological Support and Crisis Intervention Center (CAPIC) staff were also on site to provide support to the victim’s family.
