The RNF team, which included the Portuguese Miguel Oliveira, does not have a contract to participate in the 2024 MotoGP season, the organizations responsible for the competition announced this Monday.
“The MotoGP Selection Committee, which includes members of the FIM. [Federação Internacional de Motociclismo]from IRTA [associação de equipas] and Dorna [organizador]”has decided not to select the CryptoDATA RNF team for the 2024 season,” MotoGP said in a statement.
In the same document, the decision was justified by “repeated violations and violations of the participation agreement that affect the public image of MotoGP.”
“The selection committee will consider applications for the creation of a new independent team, which will use Aprilia engines, to join the MotoGP grid in 2024,” the organization said.
Miguel Oliveira moved to Aprilia’s satellite team this season after racing for KTM during his first four seasons in MotoGP and, like Spaniard Raul Fernandez, has a direct contract with the Italian manufacturer until 2024.
The Portuguese finished the championship in 16th place with 76 points in a season with several incidents and injuries keeping him out of some races and even missing the final Grand Prix in Valencia on Sunday.
