A child being helped by INEM stands at the door of the emergency department of a hospital in Feira. The service was closed

At home, the child began having convulsions and a fever, and his mother took him to the hospital. The woman discovered that the pediatric emergency department was closed and was advised to call Linha Saúde 24, which contacted INEM. The mobilized team is located on the hospital grounds, just a few meters from the emergency department. The boy was then helped into his mother’s car and transported by firefighters from Santa Maria da Feira to Gaia Hospital.

The closure of the pediatric emergency room had previously been announced, but the child’s mother was unaware of this information.

TO CMA hospital source said the child was not having seizures when he was admitted, otherwise he would have been treated in a functioning adult emergency department.
