According to the Regional Command of the Public Security Police (PSP), one of the alleged robberies occurred on November 21, when a 49-year-old suspect stole drinks from a supermarket in Ponta Delgada on the island of São Miguel during an operation. alcoholic drinks, which he hid in his belt.
One of the establishment’s employees also approached the man, but ended up stealing alcoholic drinks, threatening the employee and the witness with a knife.
The accused will be arrested later, the PSP added in a press release, which said that the suspect has a criminal record for crimes of a similar nature and has already served a prison sentence.
Police investigators were also able to identify the same defendant as the author of “two other violent crimes after the kidnapping, committed in the same circumstances as the previous one,” that is, under threat from two other supermarket employees using a knife, he tells PSP.
However, according to the same police source, “he could be linked to a suspect in the crime of qualified theft, which occurred on the night of November 10, when he broke into a commercial establishment located in Ponta Delgada and from which he stole various sports equipment, clothing and shoes worth €4,000.”
Those present at the judicial interrogation were subjected to the most serious coercive measure – preventive detention, the regional command of the PSP said, indicating that the investigation will continue.
