A month before the end of the year, the market for alternative energy vehicles is again showing significant growth in this sector. Among passenger cars, the iconic Tesla brand has received particular attention, selling 1,765 vehicles in November. Since the beginning of the year, millionaire Elon Musk’s brand has been selling more than 24 cars a day.
According to an assessment of the tram market by the Automobile Association of Portugal (ACAP), 8,146 Teslas, 2,966 BMWs and 2,289 Peugeots were sold until November. The companies are largely responsible for the large number of vehicles sold by Tesla and, like all electric vehicles, receive corresponding tax advantages, according to industry sources.
In just these 11 months, sales of new passenger electric vehicles increased by 104% compared to the same period last year – 32,433 units were registered.
Globally, sales totaled 83,755 units, including new passenger electric vehicles, plug-in electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles, resulting in a positive change of almost 60% compared to the same period in 2022.
Looking at the entire market, sales registered a growth of 27.85% compared to the same period of the previous year, but when compared year-on-year with 2019, a decline of 12.7% is found. According to ACAP, 182,988 new passenger cars entered circulation between January and November.
