Former Secretary of State for Health Lacerda Sales said this Thursday that the “interference of the Order of Physicians” in attempting to assess conduct carried out outside the profession is “a clear violation of the rule of law.”
Lacerda Sales, in a statement sent to the Lusa agency, expresses his “total disagreement with the untold interference of the President of the Order of Physicians in the activities of the government, declaring to the press that he ordered the opening of an investigation or process of investigation against the Disciplinary Council “to evaluate, apparently, doctors, including the former minister Health Antonio Lacerda Sales.
In his opinion, “the intervention of the Medical Association, coupled with its attempt to obtain evidence in the media by announcing conduct assessments carried out outside the medical profession, is completely unacceptable and is a clear breach of the Rules.” rights”.
“Order of Doctors” [OM] does not have any competence to evaluate my performance as Secretary of State, this is clearly intended for other democratic bodies elected by universal suffrage,” states António Lacerda Sales.
Lacerda Sales cites Law No. 117/2015, which in the first article defines the OM as a professional public association representing those who practice the medical profession, in article 3 it defines its duties, and in article 6 it characterizes “its specialization in the field of function, which must be followed, and it is not implied in any of these commandments that the Order of Physicians can appoint, evaluate or take disciplinary action against a member of the government.”
He also cites the OM’s Disciplinary Regulations, which “Article 1 clearly states that the Order must evaluate the performance of its members, and therefore doctors, in their duties.”
Regarding the findings of the so-called “twins case,” Lacerda Sales “clearly” confirms that she did not make an appointment or call the hospital about it, as stated by the former clinical nurse. director Luis Pinheiro in an interview he gave on Wednesday on RTP3.
“I further declare that I do not know a single pediatrician at this hospital. [Santa Maria] And I had no contact with the service,” I assure.
Given that the Secretary of State sent the children, Lacerda Sales said, it is the person who signed the hospital’s clinical report “who has to prove objectively and documented who sent the child, how they did it, where, from whom and why.”
Lacerda Sales states that “there have been many attacks on the inherent legitimacy of the rule of law, with a political zeal that far exceeds what is reasonable, but they are still excusable as part of the political debate and an attempt to get airtime at all costs.”
He argues that it is important to determine “the specific facts that actually occurred, rather than making indicative conjugations based solely on logical-deductive games that do not specifically determine anything.”
“Of course, I know what I did and did not do, but I postponed my statements until a later time, having learned about all the actions of the Secretariat of State over which I supervised and for which I bear corresponding responsibility, since I cannot be aware of any actions that occurred . Confirmed,” emphasizes Lacerda Sales.
He also says that to date, the Ministry of Health has not yet provided him with the documents on file with the Secretary of State.
“Given that they contain nominal data and my well-founded and direct interest in receiving them must be demonstrated, I also reserve clarification,” he said.
