The Lisbon Court of Appeal is expected to decide on the prosecutor’s appeal in the Operation Marquês case at the end of January 2024, reports observer.
The appeal concerns Ivo Rosa’s decision to archive most of the crimes of which the deputy accused José Socrates. In 2021, the judge archived 172 of the 189 crimes prosecutors charged against Jose Socrates and the rest of the defendants in the case.
A decision was scheduled for later this year but was delayed as judges asked for more time to complete the assessment.
Since in order to defer the decision it is necessary to extend the exclusivity regime for women judges, the Superior Council of the Magistracy must do so this Wednesday.
