There is already a coalition between the PSD, SDS and independent parties called the Democratic Alliance. Luis Montenegro and Nuno Melo this Thursday concluded an agreement on an electoral coalition and will be together in the next legislative and European elections.
In a joint statement, they state that the parties “appreciate and welcome the initiative and ideas of the “Manifesto for a Reformist and Moderate Alternative” signed by
more than 100 prominent figures of Portuguese society and released on December 15th.”
The Democratic Alliance proposes to change policies to make them “much more ambitious, towards high levels of prosperity, economic and income growth, and opportunities for all Portuguese”, to innovate and create “added value in Portugal”, and to promote, for example entrepreneurship and export.
They provide “a valorization of the rural world that rescues and restores the social state from ongoing decline, which ensures affordable and quality healthcare, education and housing for all the Portuguese people.” They also add that social consciousness is “based on the dignity of the human person to combat poverty, enhance social mobility, the value of family and renewed demand for education.”
They also propose to propose governance based on “integrity, political accountability, respect for the separation of powers and institutions” and “an effective commitment to combating corruption and influence peddling,” as well as policies that protect “freedom, equal opportunity, and the safety of citizens.” and defense of the country” and invests in sustainable development and the values of “Portuguese culture, values, language and communities.”
