A fight between two men ended with one of them stealing a car with a 17-month-old child inside. The situation occurred on Thursday morning on Rua Comendador Sa Couto in Santa Maria da Feira and a few meters later the person responsible for the theft encountered a roundabout. The two men were identified by PSP officers. The baby was not injured.
The situation occurred around 11:30. One of the men, 45 years old, was trying to cross the street in an area without a pedestrian crossing and at that moment was slightly hit by a car driver. The car stopped a little further, and the pedestrian who was hit began to hit the car and opened the door. The driver went out into the street in a rage and attacked the pedestrian. It was at this moment that the man decided to steal a car and fled. Shortly after this, he was involved in an accident. As the suspect stole the car, several people screamed and warned about the presence of a child in the back seat. The man took care of the child only after the accident.
“I saw a man getting out of the car and realized that he was carrying something in his hand. He walked to the ditch and put there what he had in his hand. After the police arrived, I went to lift the gutter guard and saw that there was a car key there,” said witness Armando Valente.
