Andre Ventura says that if the country wants “an alternative like the PS, vote for the PSD.”

Chegi President André Ventura said this Saturday that if the country wants an alternative “the same as the PS, vote for the PSD” in the March elections, classifying his party as a “subversive” choice.

“The country will have to decide what alternative it wants: if it wants an alternative essentially the same as the PS, vote for the SDP. If it wants a different and destructive alternative, as is the case in all European countries, vote for Chegu”, defended Andre Ventura at the beginning of a visit to the Rossio Christmas market in Lisbon.

Speaking to journalists, Andre Ventura insisted on criticizing the electoral coalition announced by the PSD and SDS, the Democratic Alliance, while emphasizing that “the right opponent must be the PS” and its leader Pedro Nuno Santos. , whom he accused of hypocrisy.

“There is nothing on either side. Neither the hypocrisy of Pedro Nuno Santos, who does not admit his own mistakes, nor the hypocrisy of a coalition that is formed for purely tactical reasons, hastily, haphazardly and that there is no solution that needs to be given to the country,” he said.

Ventura defended the need for a “new solution” so that Pedro Nuno Santos “does not remain unscathed, as happened, by the raindrops, saying that he will do it differently.”

“I think we should propose the opposite: a CoP that proposes changes for 2024 is a CoP that hasn’t made them since 2015—and therefore it’s not a 40-year-old solution. [coligação Aliança Democrática] that we are going to counter this PS, precisely with a new solution, with new and disruptive proposals, this is what Chega wants to do,” he said.

Asked if he still maintains his goal of getting more votes than the PSD in the upcoming parliamentary elections on March 10, now that an electoral coalition has been announced, Ventura replied: “Yes, of course, we have not changed our goal, the PSD is a free party , like Chega, enters into an alliance with whomever he wants, in this case it is an alliance with a party that does not have much electoral expression.”

Following the press statements, the Chegi leader traveled from Largo do Camões to Dom Pedro IV Square to attend the Christmas market, accompanied by a delegation of about forty party leaders and supporters, as well as some deputies.

Along the way, he was asked to take a selfie, and he walked down the street among people who praised him and passers-by shouting “fascist.”

While visiting the market, Andre Ventura took a photo with Santa Claus and said: “Whoever has Santa Claus on his side needs no other ally, that’s a victory.”

At a candy stand typical of this holiday season, Andre Ventura did not eat and offered a cake to MP Rita Matias, saying that he needed to go on a diet for the election campaign.

“This can only increase political clout,” he joked.
