DGS recommends patients to work in masks and remotely

The Directorate General of Health (DGS) recommends the use of a mask for patients with respiratory infections if they are in contact with or near other people. A shift to remote working is also recommended, especially in the first five days after symptoms appear or after a Covid diagnosis. These recommendations come at a time when Portugal is recording an increase in cases of influenza (especially influenza A) and Covid. Deaths from Covid-19 are also rising, although “below the ECDC” (European Center for Disease Prevention and Control) threshold.

The Medical Association has already recommended the use of a mask in several situations, including on public transport and in healthcare settings, to minimize exposure to respiratory infections.
