Of the arrests made, PSP allocates 118 for traffic offenses, namely 69 for driving under the influence and 49 for not having a legal license to drive.
Thirty-six suspects were also arrested for drug trafficking, with over 3,536 individual doses seized, he said, adding that 26 arrests were also made for “property crimes”, namely fraud, theft and robbery.
According to the data, “six firearms and 11 bladed weapons were also seized either as a precautionary measure or following five arrests made for possession of prohibited weapons.”
In terms of road inspection, in the last 72 hours, PSP has inspected 6,674 drivers nationwide and monitored 24,049 vehicles using radar.
A total of 1,834 administrative offenses were recorded, of which the PSP allocated 304 for speeding, 65 for drunk driving, 173 for lack of mandatory periodic technical inspection, 49 for lack of civil liability insurance and 30 for using a mobile phone while driving. driving.
In terms of road traffic accidents, the PSP recorded 398 accidents, resulting in 108 minor injuries and two serious injuries, with no fatalities.
PSP continues to encourage all drivers to drive safely by adapting their driving to weather and road conditions.
It also asks motorists to moderate their speed, remembering that “driving at excessive speeds and under the influence of alcohol are the main causes of road accidents, as well as driver distracting behaviour, namely the use of a mobile phone.”
PSP also encourages drivers not to make sudden maneuvers and to signal any direction changes in advance.
With regard to the holiday season and the purchase, use and handling of pyrotechnic items, PSP would like to remind you that to ensure the safety of everyone, any use of these items must always comply with legal requirements.
“Given that the issue of weapons and explosives is within the exclusive competence of the PSP, the sale of pyrotechnic products is permitted only in establishments licensed by us in accordance with the established procedure, and their sale via the Internet is not permitted,” he warns in a statement.
