The Pistons, now three-time champions, broke the NBA record for most consecutive losses in a season and matched the Philadelphia 76ers’ record of 28 straight games without a win, who achieved that mark twice but split their seasons in two, in 2014-15. and 2015/16.
Detroit averted a 29th straight loss and another negative record by beating the Raptors in a game that featured base Cade Cunningham with a double-double of 30 points and 12 assists and five other team players topping ten points.
“I’ve been in a lot of dressing rooms in my career, but this is the first time I’ve felt such relief. It’s like thanking God… The guys were screaming, and I had tears in my eyes. “I’m so happy for our guys,” coach Monty Williams said at the end of the match, their first win since October 28.
