The doors of the Liberal Initiative congress are closed for voting

The doors to the IL convention building were closed this Sunday by order of the Board to allow electronic voting of national IL bodies and in-person industry proposals to begin.

The unusual moment began with repeated warnings that all doors in the main hall of the Lisbon Congress Center would be closed, including the bar, with a warning that only certain toilets could be used during voting.

“Everyone, go to the living room immediately. Someone do me a favor and call outside. The doors of the bar will also be closed, everything that is in the bar must go inside, ”Nuno Fernandez, vice president of The Table, has already asked. after several insistence.

The IL director detailed the entire voting process, adding that members attending the convention will receive an “email” with four e-ballots, ensuring the Bureau is available for technical support.

“Look at your app, look at the form, we all open the app,” he asked.

After a hiatus period to complete this form, voting on 12 industry proposals will take place over the air.

During this period, a group of participants took the opportunity to wish someone in the room a happy birthday.

The final speech of the future leader of the “Liberal Initiative”, not yet elected, “skidded” at 17:30, four hours late compared to originally planned.

In the original program, the closing speech was scheduled for 13:30, a time that was changed this Sunday morning to 14:30 due to some work being moved from Saturday to Sunday.

The 7th congress of the Liberal Initiative will conclude this Sunday at the Lisbon Congress Center, and the approximately 2,300 party members registered at the main assembly will elect a successor, João Cotrim Figueiredo, as leader of the party, which has gone from one to eight deputies in recent legislative assemblies.

At the first elected convention in IL history (founded in 2017), Rui Rocha and Carla Castro, deputies and members of the outgoing board, and national council member José Cardoso compete for the presidency of the Executive Committee.
