A team from the Ministry of Health, led by Minister Manuel Pizarro, will visit all the municipalities of the Algarve this Monday as part of the Open Health initiative, which aims to learn about ongoing projects and identify needs for social media units.
The Ministry of Health said in a statement that the visit of the Minister of Health, Secretary of State for Health Promotion Margarida Tavares and Secretary of State for Health Ricardo Mestre to the 16 municipalities of the Algarve is the first visit of this initiative, which will be “periodic and will visit all regions of the country.”
During the afternoon this Monday, government officials will review units and ongoing investments in the region, as well as engage in dialogue with the public, healthcare professionals, National Health Service (NHS) authorities and mayors.
The initiative of the Ministry of Health begins at 9:00 am with a visit by the Minister of Health to the town hall of Monchique, followed by a visit to the medical center of this Algarve municipality.
At the same time, Margarida Tavares visits the Albufeira City Hall, followed by a visit to the Municipal Medical Center, and Ricardo Mestre is received by the mayors at the Alcoutim City Hall, after which he visits the District Medical Center.
At the end of the morning, a team from the Ministry of Health will travel to Vila do Bispo, where a midday reception is scheduled at the municipality, followed by a visit to primary health care centers.
The visit will continue in Portimão, where government officials will be received at 2:30 pm by the mayors at the Portimão City Hall, then they will proceed to the Portimão Hospital Unit, the Algarve University Hospital Center, the Medical Center and the Mental Health Community Center. The next destination is Lagos, followed by Faro, where government officials visit medical facilities in these municipalities.
The day ends with a meeting with the Association of Municipalities of the Algarve, where the signing of the “decentralization documents” of powers will take place.
