Andre Ventura keeps Chega’s direction unchanged

Chegi President André Ventura proposed to the Sixth Congress that all members of the current National Council be reappointed without making any changes to the list he presented to the delegates.

According to the list of leadership candidates presented this evening, presented by Andre Ventura, Marta Trindade, António Tangier Correa and MP Pedro Frasan are again candidates for the post of vice president.

Chegi’s leader also retains as deputy parliamentary leader Pedro Pinto, deputies Rui Paulo Sousa, Rita Matias and Diogo Pacheco de Amorim, as well as Ricardo Regalla and Patricia Carvalho.

National elections will take place this Sunday morning, the last of the three days of the convention taking place in Viana do Castelo.

André’s leadership will serve three-year terms.

According to the current charter, the National Directorate “is the body responsible for the implementation of the political strategy of the party determined at the National Congress, as well as for political supervision of the activities of the national and regional bodies of the party.”

At the last congress, this leadership received 91.9% of the votes.

Andre Ventura was re-elected as Chega’s president on Saturday with 98.9% of delegates’ votes.

This Sunday, the 6th National Convention will also elect the National Council Convention and Council, the National Council and the National Council of Jurisdiction.

The National Council, the party’s highest body between congresses, has two lists of candidates: one headed by João Tilly and the other by Israel Pontes.

The joint list of the Bureau of the National Assembly and the National Council includes presidential candidate João Lopes Aleixo, vice-president Felicidade Vital and secretaries Pedro Miguel Pinto and Nuno Araujo.

Bernardo Pessanha is re-submitted to the Council of National Jurisdiction as president, while Cristina Rodrigues and Ana Figueiredo are nominated as “deputy” candidates. Fernando Pedroso and Ana Maria Blaufuchs are also among this unique list of candidates for assistant positions.

Candidates for these bodies, with the exception of the National Directorate, were presented by the first subscribers from the stage on the second day of work at the main meeting of Chegi.

The only exception was Israel Pontes, head of the second list of the National Council, who was called to the pulpit but did not attend.
