The Portuguese Sports Confederation (CDP) this Sunday condemned the lack of hygienic conditions at the Centro de Alto Rendimento do Jamor (CARJ) in Oeiras, demanding that the government take measures to resolve the situation.

“The Portuguese Sports Confederation deeply regrets the lack of hygienic conditions at the Jamora High Performance Center and demands accountability from the government and an urgent action plan,” the organization said in a statement.

According to the CDP, it was “with great concern and bewilderment” that it became known from reports from athletes and managers, and more recently from news broadcast by the media, about the lack of conditions and minimum hygiene and sanitary requirements at CARJ. dining rooms.

The confederation highlighted the news that the Food and Economic Security Authority (ASAE) inspected the site about a month ago following a complaint from athletes about an infestation of cockroaches and bedbugs and concluded that hygiene standards were not up to standard. productive multi-sport equipment.

Subsequently and as a consequence, “an administrative offense case has allegedly been opened for failure to comply with general and specific hygiene requirements” and “legal steps” are currently being taken to issue a fine,” the CDP added.

“Taking into account this unacceptable scenario in a fundamental infrastructure whose mission is to become the “mother house” of Portuguese sport, providing all the necessary conditions and means for the development of high-level national athletes, the CDP hereby expresses its rejection of this situation,” stressed He.

According to the CDP, “it is completely unacceptable to demonstrate a lack of conditions to those who raise the name of Portugal to the highest mast in the whole world.”

Taking into account “this entire unfortunate and reprehensible situation and the relevant events”, the CDP, the organization that unites the Portuguese federated sports movement, asked the government to clarify the steps being taken to determine responsibility in relation to this serious case that affects national sports .
