Nuno Melo on the list of the Democratic Alliance of Porto and Paulo Nuncio from Lisbon

CDS-PP leader Nuno Melo will be Porto’s candidate on the Democratic Alliance (AD) list in the next legislative elections, while Vice President Paulo Nuncio will be Lisbon’s candidate.

The names of two leaders were mentioned as possible candidates, and their inclusion in the lists was confirmed today to Lusa by an official SDS-PP source, without specifying, however, in what positions.

This morning, PSD vice-president Miguel Pinto Luz said on CNN Portugal that Nuno Melo and Paulo Nuncio will be the second names on the lists of Lisbon and Porto.

“Dr Nuno Melo will be number two. [pelo Porto]these were negotiations that took place on the AD constitution and in Lisbon we will have Dr. Luis Montenegro, the leader of this Democratic Alliance, as well as the number two from the CDS-PP, Dr. Paulo Nuncio,” said the Social Democrat, who will head Faro’s list.

It is now confirmed that the CDS-PP will have two “clearly suitable” places on the lists for Lisbon and Porto, a 16th place in each of these districts, in addition to a 10th place on the list for Aveiro and an 11th. º from Braga, with 19th place allocated to the capital’s PPM.

The agreement allows the SDS-PP to return to the Assembly of the Republic after failing to elect a single deputy in the last legislative elections in 2022 for the first time in the party’s history.

In Lisbon, the AD list will be headed by PSD President Luis Montenegro, while in Porto the independent and former President of the Order of Doctors, Miguel Guimarães, will be number one.

Nuno Melo, current CDS-PP MEP, has led the party since 2022. Paulo Nuncio was Secretary of State for Financial Affairs from 2011 to 2015.

According to an official CDS-PP source, Paulo Nuncio and former deputies Telmo Correia and Cecilia Meireles will coordinate the preparation of AD’s electoral program on behalf of the party, in addition to Paulo Bobone (former president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry). Portuguesa) and Ricardo Pinheiro Alves (responsible for the strategic council of CDS-PP).

The national councils of the SDP and SDS-PP will meet this evening to nominate lists of candidates for the AD.

If the Social Democrats have on their agenda the approval of lists of candidates for deputies, then the Christian Democrats have only “their own criteria” on their agenda.
