The Governor of the Bank of Portugal (BdP) confirmed that the inflation trajectory in the eurozone is very positive and the European Central Bank (ECB) does not need to take much action to bring prices to 2% in the medium term.
Speaking to CNBC at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Mario Centeno said the ECB’s target is medium-term inflation rather than February inflation, saying “the trajectory is very positive, right.” Now”.
“I’m not saying a rise is impossible, but we don’t need to do more than is necessary to get inflation to 2% over the medium term. From the end of 2022, all our forecasts until 2025 point to the Inflation forecast in the medium term is very well anchored,” he assured.
