The leader of the Madeira Socialists also indicates that he is waiting for an “investigation”, confident that “justice will determine the truth of the facts.”
“It is with great concern that we observe the ongoing searches against the President of the Regional Government and the President of the Funchal City Council,” the same note said.
The Judicial Police (PJ) is carrying out about 100 searches in Madeira, the Azores and various regions of the continent on suspicion of corruption crimes, economic participation in business, malfeasance and abuse of power, among other things, a Lusa source told the process.
The same source said the searches in Madeira are being carried out “in several units of the Madeiran government and companies.”
The Funchal City Council (PSD/CDS-PP), chaired by Pedro Calado (PSD), confirmed in the morning that it was the subject of searches by the PS.
