Former Prime Minister José Socrates will find out this Thursday whether he will also be tried for corruption crimes and tax fraud in the main case of the Marquis case. We are talking about the decision of the Lisbon Court of Appeal on the appeal of the Office of the Public Prosecutor (OP) against the ruling of Judge Ivo Rosa.
In April 2021, Ivo Rosa dropped almost all charges in “Operation Marquis.” We are talking about recording in the archives of the investigative resolution 172 of the 189 crimes included in the initial indictment of the prosecutor’s office.
José Socrates will be tried for crimes related to money laundering and forgery in a separate trial from Operation Marquez, but the trial has not yet begun due to several appeals filed.
