On Monday morning, a 24-year-old NTC soldier was hit by a car carrying a couple suspected of committing several violent robberies.
A PNP source in Porto told Lusa that the soldier was hit by a couple who “are part of a group that has been carrying out violent robberies in the region for several days.”
The same source said that a blockade was organized at the place where the suspects fled on foot and that “about two hours later” both were already detained. At the same time, items from previous robberies were confiscated.
The soldier belongs to the Carvalhos post and was on paid duty at a construction site in Grijo, Vila Nova de Gaia, when she was shot down.
At around 10am, Carvalhos firefighters were alerted to a traffic accident and hit-and-run on Rua Nova da Boavista in Grijo.
Carvalhos firefighters transported the victim to Gaia Hospital.
