A 20-year-old man died this Wednesday in a collision between a motorcycle and a heavy vehicle that resulted in the road being blocked in Abraveses, Viseu, a fire service source told Lusa.
“The collision between a motorcycle and a heavy refuse transport vehicle” resulted in “a fatal victim, the driver of the motorcycle, a 20-year-old young man living here in the parish,” said Viseu volunteer fire commander João. Loyal.
According to him, the collision took place on Wednesday afternoon on the street Estrada Velha de Abraveses in the town of Mur de Carvalhal, parish of Abraveses, municipality of Viseu.
According to João Leal, the access road to the municipal airfield of Viseu is closed in both directions and traffic is being diverted through the interior of Mur de Carvalhal or through Estrada Nacional 2 (EN 2).
“The death of the young man was confirmed at the scene at 14:15 by the INEM medical team. [Instituto Nacional de Emergência Médica]”, who went to the scene in a VMER (ambulance and medical resuscitation vehicle), added João Leal.
According to the Subregional Civil Protection Command of Viseu-Dau-Lafoynes, the alarm was declared at 13:50 and 11 operatives were mobilized to the scene, supported by five vehicles from the volunteer firefighters and sapadoras of Viseu, PNR and INEM.
