The ministry points out that “the retention rate of new medical specialists (…) has reached the highest level in recent years, with 90% of doctors who completed their internship in 2023 joining the SNS,” which made it possible to “guarantee the replacement of the number of doctors” , despite reforms that recorded an “increasing trend.”
It said 1,485 doctors were trained in their specialty last year, with 1,336 placed in hospitals and health centers, including 359 in general and family medicine, 10 in public health and 1,116 in various hospital specialties.
