According to a notice sent this Monday, the National Union of Prison Guards (SNCGP) has planned a new all-out strike for February 22, which will take place from 00:00 to 23:59.
According to the preliminary notice to which Lusa had access, the planning of the protest is justified by three demands: “increasing the value and dignity of professionals,” “restructuring remuneration allowances,” and “approving a system for evaluating the performance of professionals from the prison guard body has already concluded.”
The document was sent to the Prime Minister and various government representatives, the regional leaders of Madeira and the Azores, the Director General of Administration and Public Employment, the Directorate General of Reintegration and the Prison Service, and to prisons. directors.
The announcement of an all-out strike follows another advance notice of a strike between February 13 and 25 last week that could jeopardize the transport of prisoners to courts where the exact same demands were made.
On January 31, prison guards went on a full-fledged one-day strike, having meanwhile received a promise from the government that the evaluation and performance system would be approved by March.
Prison guards have also been present at security force protests over the past month, motivated mainly by the issue of granting SP missions, leaving out not only prison guards but also the PSP and GNR.
