“It is better for the left to have a plurality,” says Rui Tavares in an interview with CMTV.

The founder of the Livre party and the current sole deputy of the party, Rui Tavares, defended himself in an interview with the publication on Tuesday CMTVthat “there must be clarity in the politics of the alliance, especially on the left,” ahead of the vote in legislative elections on March 10.

“People were shocked by the vast majority of PSs,” Tavares said. Therefore, given the technical connection between PS and AD predicted by the polls, he argued that “if there is no majority from one party, it is better to have a plurality on the left.”

Regarding the possibility of joining the hypothetical government of Pedro Nuno Santos, PS Secretary General Rui Tavares noted that this “is not the goal of life.” However, as the first measure of his first 100 days in office, he identified the need to address “the lack of harmony in education, health and security.”

As for Chega, Tavares called on the Portuguese “not to give in to the hate speech” of Andre Ventura’s party and the media “not to fall for their tricks.”
