A 10-year-old girl died this Wednesday after being shot in the chest by a stray bullet in São João de Meriti, Baixada Fluminense, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
According to the Brazilian site G1Rafael Pacheco was playing outside when she was shot at around 7:30 p.m., the day before her birthday. The birthday will be celebrated next Saturday.
The child was still taken by residents to the Jardim Iris emergency room, but was no longer able to resist injury.
According to eyewitnesses, several people in hoods ran out into the street and started shooting.
This Thursday, around 7am, residents set fire to wooden crates and sofas at the crime scene to get justice for the girl.
