This Monday, the head of European diplomacy asked former US President Donald Trump to take the matter seriously and rejected the idea of turning the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) into an à la carte alliance.
“Let me be sarcastic (…). We will hear too many things during this campaign. Let’s be serious: NATO cannot be an a la carte military alliance, it cannot be a military alliance dependent on how the President of the United States is there every day. Yes, no, tomorrow this, then that,” Josep Borrell answered in Brussels when asked about Donald Trump’s statements over the weekend.
Before entering a meeting of development ministers, the European Union’s (EU) foreign affairs chief insisted on appealing to the seriousness of Democrat Joe Biden’s predecessor in Washington.
