Bills by the PCP, BE and PAN, which proposed to abolish the joint management of protected areas model, were defeated this Thursday against the votes of PS, PSD and Chega.
In this Thursday’s vote on the five bills discussed in Wednesday’s plenary session, the PSD and Chega bills were sent to the Environment and Energy Commission.
On Thursday, the PS parliamentary group already said it did not agree with proposals to withdraw the model for joint management of protected areas, but recognized that it could be valued and improved.
The bills of PSD and Chega just want to change and improve the model, one of the changes is the creation of an executive director.
The joint protected area management model was established by the government in 2019 based on the joint and joint management of protected areas and greater responsibility of local institutions.
Co-management includes participation in the management of local governments, but also includes organizations such as universities and other local organizations. Applies to protected areas of the National Network of Protected Areas.
