Father of young woman who died of brain tumor after 11 trips to emergency room calls for ‘justice’ for her daughter

The Penafiel Administrative and Fiscal Court (TAF) is expected to soon rule on a lawsuit brought by the family of Sara Moreira, a young woman who died of a brain tumor after 11 trips to the emergency room. The family is asking for compensation in the amount of 530 thousand euros.

“We want justice for Sarah, that’s why we are fighting. We have not lost hope,” he said. CM Mario Moreira, the young woman’s father.

The case had already been prosecuted, but in 2019, four doctors were acquitted. A decision that was later confirmed by the Porto Court of Appeal. The family of the girl who died in 2013 at the age of 19 did not calm down and continued to fight. He now hopes the TAF decision will be favorable.

Sarah died from a brain tumor weighing almost two kilograms, which was only discovered at an autopsy. Additional tests were never required at the hospital department. The girl complained of headaches, dizziness, vomiting and loss of consciousness.
