Luis Montenegro condemns the PS for recognizing agreements with anti-NATO parties

The PSD president assured this Saturday that he will not enter into an alliance with anyone “who does not identify with the principles and values ​​of social democracy and Christian democracy,” condemning the PS for recognizing an understanding with anti-NATO parties.

At a Democratic Alliance (AD) rally at the Teatro Ribeiro Conceicao in Lamego, Viseu district, Luis Montenegro criticized PS Secretary General Pedro Nuno Santos for his past as a minister, accusing him of incompetence. , as well as for recognizing an understanding with “political parties that argue that Portugal should not be in NATO and even that it should not be in the European Union.”

“For those who have so many stones for scenarios, this reality should blush with the shame of those who propose that the country can be governed by losing and, losing, joining with those who are against our principles and our values,” he deliberate.

Speaking about the SDP-led AD project, he added: “We are actually different. The Portuguese know what they can expect from us: I will only take on the role of Prime Minister on the basis of the real trust of the Portuguese people.” , and they will not be with me. There will be no one who does not identify with the principles and values ​​of social democracy and Christian democracy.”

Luis Montenegro outlined these guidelines after once again marking the second anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and expressing “full solidarity with the suffering of the Ukrainian people.”

In his speech, the SDP President highlighted the news that “at present, about 30 thousand students still do not have a teacher in at least one subject,” and considered that the current state of public education represents an “attack on the future” and “an attack on democracy” because it questions equal opportunities.

If the PSD forms a government, the “top priority” will be the youth, he repeated, promising them “more opportunities, more quality of life, more income.”

One of the biggest cheers at the Ribeiro Conceição Theatre, which has 417 seats and was full, was the principle stated by Luis Montenegro that he does not accept “a society in which those who work have a lower income than those who do not work.” ” “, who made a point that should be repeated in Lamego.

The SDP president regretted the lack of attention to the AD’s proposal to create a solidarity bonus to ensure that increased income from work does not lead to a loss of disposable income.

“We guarantee that no one who receives social benefits and enters the labor market can earn less than what they had before starting work,” he emphasized.

Luis Montenegro concluded his speech with a call for a useful vote, saying that to avoid a new PS government from which one can only “expect a worse result”, the only option is to vote for AD.

“What do we need? People who succeed in government because that is what Portugal lacks,” he said.
