A young Portuguese man, 23, suspected of stabbing a futsal player in Quarteira in 2022, was arrested this week in the Brazilian city of Crisium. The killer had an arrest warrant issued by Interpol and had been on the run for two years.
The crime occurred on February 16, 2022, on Francisco Sa Carneiro Avenue in Quarteira. Silves Rocha, 24, was stabbed in the neck and chest with a kitchen knife after a disagreement with the killer he was talking to in the street.
As a result, the attacker left the place and fled the country, taking refuge in Crisium in the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina, where he has lived since March 2022. Until now, according to the Brazilian press, he worked as a chef in a restaurant in the city. He was captured by federal police this week and is awaiting extradition to Portugal in a local prison. He has been charged with qualified murder.
